Celebrating the Life of Michael Ross, Founder of Williamsport
June 20 @ 6:00 pm
The Lycoming County Historical Society invites the public to attend a ceremony to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the death of Michael Ross. He was the founder and “proprietor of Williamsport,” having laid out the then small town in 1795. Williamsport became a borough in 1806 and a city in 1866.
The 20-30 minute ceremony will take place at the Ross family plot near the center of the cemetery. Attendees may bring a lawn chair if desired. It will be held in moderate rain or shine. If there is severe weather, the commemoration will take place at the Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society, 858 West Fourth Street, Williamsport.
