Are you a fan of baseball? Do you love the sound of the crack of a bat? Well, Williamsport is the place for you. Williamsport is known worldwide as the home of Little League Baseball. Each year Williamsport welcomes the world to experience the Little League World Series. Little League was founded in Williamsport in 1939 by Carl Stotz, so the first stop should be Original Little League, which is located on West Fourth Street. Original Little League was the home of the first 12 Little League World Series. Next stop is the Little League Museum, after a huge renovation the museum is state of the art and full of surprises. A visit to Williamsport is not complete without seeing the Little League Complex where the Little League World Series is played each year.
Williamsport is also home to Historic Bowman Field, which is the home the Williamsport Crosscutters. Historic Bowman Field, built in 1926, is the 2nd oldest Minor League stadium operating in the United States. It was voted by Baseball America as one of the best short-season "A" stadiums to watch a game. Williamsport has a rich professional baseball history dating back to the late 1800's. The Williamsport Crosscutters are a short-season Class "A" affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Cutters play in the 14-team New York-Penn League.
